Building Bridges Conference, April 17-18

Building Bridges: Struggle, Solidarity, Equality
Mission Cultural Center, 2868 Mission Street
@ 25th — one block from 24th St BART

The mission of Building Bridges is to respond to the call for action by Equality Across America to build a grassroots network of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Ally & 2 Spirit activists & organizations in Northern California, as part of the broader struggle to win full federal equality. We believe that action in the streets and in our communities is necessary for social justice gains, & that each of us has an important role to play in building this movement. Saturday will feature a full day of workshops on issues from “LGBTQ Youth, Art, & Activism,” to “The History of Transgender Resistance: Lessons for Inclusive Activism Today,” to “Immigration Reform & its Relevance to the LGBTQ Fight for Full Federal Equality,” & will be capped off by a rally against the proposed Sit/Lie law in San Francisco. Sunday will feature a town hall meeting where we can take the community building that happened on Saturday, & work together to figure out how to put it into action in planning next steps for our movement. Help us build solidarity, connections, and momentum as move forward towards full federal equality!
